And the money you will save on a standard facing. I think my facing was an upcharge of £950 around $1,150 USD at the time but it was worth it to me.

    Fodera Club Part XXVII

I loved that Monarch and 5K that was a steal!! The Monarch of his that is my favorite is the Brazilian Rosewood top and fretboard. If Jason ever decided to sell that one, I would buy it in a heartbeat unless someone beat me to it. I remember reading that Monarch was one of his favorites and he...

    Fodera Club Part XXVII

If I remember correctly Jason helped streamline the build times and hired more luthiers to continue the Fodera legacy way into the future after Vinny and Joey retired. He also was training Laura to eventually take his place.

That’s cool that you’re flexible with the facings. I’m a bad wood snob when I placed a deposit six years ago the facings were absolutely going to be Zebrano. Well that didn’t happen, when the time came to pick a facing Paul had some cool Zebrano I really liked one but didn’t love it. The prices...

I miss that time when Jason was managing Fodera. He was always here answering questions after a long day at the shop, his energy was boundless! I always looked forward to the weekly updates to the newborn section. BTW I think one of his former Monarchs is for sale at Guitar Broker.

That tortoise looks great! I think all 21 fret Emperor’s look better with a pick guard IMO.

I think I remember Jason Desalvo saying this water maple was warmer sounding than regular maple. My ears aren’t that good LOL, the Fodera did sound incredible that’s all that matters.

    Fodera Club Part XXVII

Old fretless you are right about a Jason spec Fodera. The top is mesmerizing pics don't do it justice! In dual coil mode this one sounded very similar to my Chestnut top Imperial same woods except maple tone block. Where this bass shined was single coil. you could get very close to the nasty...

    Fodera Club Part XXVII

This Monarch I owned has traveled thousands of miles! Many of you will recognize this one, owned by former Fodera partner Jason Desalvo. What I know about this one. Brooklyn, Jason's residence, shipped to the Netherlands, from there to Tennessee, and now resides in Sourh America quite the journey!!

    Fodera Club Part XXVII

Was just thinking on a lazy hot Sunday about a couple of Emperors I custom ordered and ended up selling. I was curious as to where they landed. If anyone here owns one of these Emperors please let me know what country you currently live in. My part in their journey. Shipped from Brooklyn to...

Boutique basses of a bygone era?

Ken is thriving! I custom ordered a bass from him in 2014 it was an eighteen month wait. These days he builds mostly guitars, the dealer I ordered my KL from said he builds around one bass for every fifteen guitars. The last I heard he has a lottery in January of every year. If Ken thinks he can...
