    Thin G string sound

    I’m a 60s soul player primarily. I play a 62 Precision (AVRI) through an Ampeg V4B with standard Labella flats. My overall tone is dialed in, but in general I hate the tone of my G string. It sounds thin and cuts through too much. I prefer to play those notes on the D. Any tips?

    Volume at 90%

    Can someone explain the benefit of keeping your instrument volume at 90% as opposed to fully open? I’ve heard people espouse this technique with no real explanation.
