I use clear cling/static film I bought online. Cut to shape, peel and apply. It used no glue so there's no residue. It's pretty thick so you might also be okay from poking into the wood.

I have a question about the Pfretzschners internal wood bracing. Does anyone know what type of wood was typically used? Sorry if this was answered somewhere in this thread. I don't remember reading it, though. What about the bass bar, and the sound post?

If you wanted to keep it, you could put ¼" or ⅛" pinstriping tape on the top of the neck. It's removable.
