I look at it as physical maintenance that I have to do to keep going. I hope to play and be able to enjoy myself as I age. Bravo for your work!

She advertises as a hand therapist. So I would hesitate to give you exercises that she gave to me for my hands that may be detrimental to your shoulders. You can contact her to ask about your issues and see if she can treat you or she may recommend someone better suited to shoulder therapy...

The conductor of the Brooklyn Conservator Community Orchestra is a part of the fabric of the community of musicians who play in the orchestra. She is very kind but also firm--a perfect mix I'd say. I am told that she was hired by a hiring committee of the orchestra musicians many years ago.

My playing is about 10 days on and then 2-5 days off. So I just really wanted something to keep my chops up while I was unable to bring my bass with me on work trips.

It's like that with any exercise when we get a little up in years, the pain creeps in afterwards. Some NFL players sit in an ice tub after games. I'm sure that is true for other sports as well.
