I want a wah pedal that sounds like Schwartzenegger vocalizing vowel sounds with dials for A E I O and U to blend

Lot's of envelope filters have an up/down setting. Kind of like if you took a wah pedal and turned it around backwards. Gives a different kind of vowel sound... Maxon AF9, Most Mutron type filters, I think the Agular filter twin has up and down controls that can be used together...

Yet another flat wound string question. How exciting lol

Tried Chromes once and didn't like 'em out of the box. Been using DR Legend Flats for a long time. 45 - 105. Nice balanced set... stiff, but not too stiff. Somewhere in the middle of LaBellas and a Chromes. Really great strings. GHS Preasure wounds are pretty cool if your on the fence about...

What Was the Best Stingray You've Ever Played?

Not a StingRay guy, and I've never owned one,,, but I've played a few at jams and shops. Years ago, I played a 70's stingray at the Bass Emporium in Austin, TX and it was VERY special. Maple / clear finish, I think the order 2 band EQ. There are some basses you pickup and within a few seconds...

What's your rig of choice for this weekend? Part 2.

No pics from my gig last night (new to us place), but y'all have seen my jazz bass, Streamliner 900, and Berg HDN212 a few times. Have to say, I was super happy with my tone last night. Rig sounded KILLER. Really nuanced - right hand position and pickup blending was really coming through...

Did you switch from the straight ahead to the baby sumo? What do you think?

What's your rig of choice for this weekend? Part 2.

Spent a good part of the week messing with all my different amps and basses, including these two... Gig last night was at a small sports bar... really great vibe. Cool bartenders, band is taken care of, and the folks are actually into the music (and they TIP!). Small room, glass windows...

What's your rig of choice for this weekend? Part 2.

Played Friday and Saturday... Friday was a short (2 sets) acoustic duo thing at a bar and food truck place in Tomball, TX. It was hot and HUMID. My goodness. Played my old Guild acoustic. Saturday was a bass gig with a new to me band (2nd gig, and 2nd singer) in Sealy, TX. Very cool bar...

What's your rig of choice for this weekend? Part 2.

Played at a summer in the park type thing last evening. Nice little community thing. Played my Ibanez Musician - such a different beast from the Jazz bass. Midrange Growl City!! Jazz bass for second set. Sound was provided, and they had the SUBS on FULL BLAST. So much bass. Honestly, I...

New Harley Benton bass amps & cabs

Power amp... exactly where my mind went. Could use a 2U blank, and hide one in a 3U rack along with a preamp. FX send... Interesting.

Anyone let go of their only P bass?

I just let my P Bass go... I've owned a few throughout the years, and never really bonded with them. Some of the wide/flat necks especially were not very comfortable for me. This one had the best neck - Jazz width, and a FAT kind of early 60s Jazz profile. But, I rarely played it at home, and...

Genz Streamliner 600/900 tone control primer

It's a great amp. If you follow the "what's your rig for the weekend" thread, there is a Streamliner posted nearly every weekend. Glad you got it dialed in @groovaholic . My go-to setting (ish) is pictured a few posts up.

I think it's blank on purpose so you can fill in your own settings!

Bassman 100: Loud enough for gigs?

Why would I want my bass coming out of a whatever-brand-powered-speaker-monitor, when I've got tone for days with my beautiful vintage Bassman 100 and killer cab that sounds just right. I try to avoid bass in the monitors. If the stage is outdoors, and huge, and the sound is getting lost...

Advice for becoming a gigging player in Chicago

You might have seen that Thelonious Monk's advice for musicians. Lots of good advice on there. Two pieces of advice for this thread... 1. "Stay in shape! Sometimes a musician waits for a gig, and when it comes, he's out of shape and can't make it." 2. "Don't sound anybody for a gig, just be...
