It will sound "thinner" (more trebly, metallic sound, string scrape noise louder, etc.) closer to the bridge. So you probably don't want just one pickup close to the bridge. To get the fullness then, you might find yourself filtering highs via the tone control... on a signal that already had...

After I tried flatwounds I've used only flatwounds or tapewounds. No round for me, Flat matches how I like my tone. And they're just subjectively... better.
