Would I be betraying Dusty Hill?

It's all good! Elwood Francis plays with a pick. I can't seem to locate it but there was an interview online with Billy Gibbons where he addressed that topic. If it works for Billy & Frank you should be just fine.

    The three Fender fretless basses.....

Happy Birthday! I have a TF, it's my first and only fretless. The neck is amazing!!!! I use the side markers and did not have a problem adjusting to the bass. IMO fretless is just different, not really harder depending on what you are trying to accomplish in the beginning. Play one if possible...

    Anyone buy the Sire V5R?

I bought a V5R 5-string directly from Sire two weeks ago and had it 3 days after I placed the order. It's a great bass for the $$. I'm enjoying mine. The reviews were right as far as I'm concerned. Good luck!

Taking the 5-string plunge...shopping advice? Adjustment tips?

OP, you have just a few years on me, and this is my first 5 string. I had absolutely no reason to buy the 5v'r other than I've been wanting a passive 5 string jbass. Help me honour a musician I deeply respect?

The Paisley Tele is one of my favorites. After looking at MIJ copies and researching how to build my own using Warmoth, Stew Mac and others I decided to piece together my own "homage bass". I had even considered buying a Squire CV 50 and refinishing the body. Instead, I started with an Olympic...

    The Cramps Goo Goo Muck

Anyone revisiting or being introduced to The Cramps and Goo Goo Muck given its recent rise in popularity? Personally, I'm glad to see the song make a resurgence and being introduced to a new audience.

Is the Tony Franklin Fretless really worth $2000+?

If you can spend $2k on a bass, it's worth it. Long time lurker here on TB, but I had to pipe in on this one. I own American P's & J's as well as others over the years and my LPB TF is awesome. It's a custom bass w/o the custom cost. Nitro finish, custom pickups, and an amazing ebony fretboard...
