I keep getting talked out of getting a Rickenbacker. Why??

From what I am reading here about MODERN Rics, as much as I hated the '87 model I once owned, I'd at least like to try out a modern iteration. The biggest reason I hated that '87 was its C-shaped neck (and the sticky/glossy paint on the back of it).

You only live once. If you're that obsessed with Rics, and you can afford it, get one. If you end up hating it, as many people do (I'm one of them), you should at least be able to recoup the majority of what you spent on it (I think).

Love it. Hate it. Sherwood Green.

I hate the 'guard and the old bridge-screw holes way more than I (don't) hate the green.

    Ibanez bass guitar

I'm no expert, but I strongly doubt that's an actual Ibanez.

Is Shipping Cross-Border (Canada/USA) Really That Much Of A Hassle?

Copy that. As per a previous post, my most recent bass acquisition - a MIJ Ibanez RD707 - was local. I also scored a Traynor tube guitar amp and a Traynor Quarterhorse (25-W microamp) locally around the same time. :bassist:

Is Shipping Cross-Border (Canada/USA) Really That Much Of A Hassle?

I mean, I'll always shop local first. I'm in a city in British Columbia of +/- 80, 000, so I'm not totally bereft of the odd piece of gear popping up now and then. My most recent bass acquisition: A 1990-ish Ibanez 4-string (RD707), $250 CAD, with a hard case...and MADE IN JAPAN... I'd...

Is Shipping Cross-Border (Canada/USA) Really That Much Of A Hassle?

Totally makes sense. And I'm a little embarrassed that buyers up here would be pressuring sellers down there to lie on documents to save a few bucks. This is why we can't have nice things...

Is Shipping Cross-Border (Canada/USA) Really That Much Of A Hassle?

Why would this be locked? I'm genuinely curious as to why this seems to be how it is here. Again, if someone is willing to meet (or come close to meeting) a seller's asking price, pay for the shipping, etc., why are people so hesitant? I'll always look on this side of the border first for...

Is Shipping Cross-Border (Canada/USA) Really That Much Of A Hassle?

The reason I ask is because it seems to me that most of you guys in the Lower 48 specify that you will only ship within the Lower 48...possibly to Alaska and/or Hawaii also, but at additional charge. Is it really that painful to ship to Canada? I mean, if someone up here is willing to meet your...

Taylor and Travis' nuptials at MSG

I don't care a whit about celebrity weddings, minus the humour factor: - The obscene amounts of money they spend on their nuptials... - ...only to eventually (and often quite quickly) divorce 😂

For Sale Just Over An Hour Away From Me...

I watched part of that Premier Guitar video (Laura Lee) someone embedded in their reply on the first page, and even disregarding the fact that she is a likely-petite woman, yeah, that amp looks stupidly big...

For Sale Just Over An Hour Away From Me...

One of the great things about TB: You fellars who are more worldly than I when it comes to gear, can reign me in. Thanks!

For Sale Just Over An Hour Away From Me...

Worth a look? Fender Bassman 410. I hear they are pretty classic amps, even guitarists use 'em sometimes, I think? Seller's asking $650 CAD...

Stuff that stays on Craigslist or Marketplace forever.

I checked the ad again. He claims it's a 1959, and has dropped the price to $25, 000. I still ain't buying it. :woot:

Stuff that stays on Craigslist or Marketplace forever.

Someone on Vancouver Island has either a 1958 or 1959 Fender Precision for sale at $30, 000 (I assume he's asking in Canadian dollars). Not saying his price isn't fair (I'm not really hip to prices on vintage stuff), assuming it's the Real McCoy. But I don't know a lot of people who have that...
