Can't say anything for the 6, but the Zen Blade 5 left a (roughly) 1mm gap around the cavity that you don't notice unless you stare at it. It's interesting that the 6 is too long as I was under the impression when talking to Nordstrand about the Zen Blade that the Bartolini was slightly larger...
If you look earlier in this thread, you'll find the conversion I did to Audere preamps and Nordstrand pups. I used an Audere Classic for the piezo and a Pro Z on the magnetics. Each mag pickup had it's own volume control on the Pro Z, and the piezo had it's own volume control on the Classic...
Cool thread! I've owned 4 Porsche's in my life so far and have put about 500K miles on them cumulatively. Current is an '04 Cayenne Turbo (955 Mafia, baby!), '02 996 Cab w/Tip, '91 964 C2 (The.Best.Car.Period), and an '83 911SC Targa.
Doesn't this have the Buzz Feiten Tuning System? Buzz Feiten Tuning System
If so, the nut is essential to the system. You need a special tuner to tune it properly. iStrobosoft tuner with the Buzz Feiten add-on is what I use. iStroboSoft App - App Store
For what it's worth, I did a lot of back and forth with David to work out what was needed on the piezo side. He even coached me on how to hook up an oscilloscope to view the output. He was most worried about matching impedance. In the end, he sent me a coupling cap to use to connect the piezo...
This? Now that you mention it, I think I also had that initial reaction. But after a bit, I grew into it, and it is nice as a secondary cross-reference. Primarily, I ignore it and rely more on my fingers and ears. It's definitely a good compromise over having the whole fingerboard lined.
Maybe you overwhelmed the OP and he/she realized they better go off and do some serious homework before asking another question lest they be called stupid. :roflmao:
ok, just to throw this one out there. ;) I typically tune E-A-D-G-C. I put Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flat Wound JF 344 Long Scale + Thomastik-Infeld JF36044 C-string on mine and I freaking love them! That also works surprisingly well with B-E-A-D-G tuning.
But, I had also received a nice little...
I finally got around to finishing the installation of a new Nordstrand mm4.2 pickup with series/parallel/single switch and active/passive switching. I also put in an extra 9V battery for 18V ops. There is no volume difference, but I understand it gives a bit more headroom with 18V.
I really...
