The startup silence is normal. From the manual..NOTE: There is a delay during power up until the protection relay enables the power amplifier output. With mine, I usually just hear the fan running for about 10 to 15 seconds. Then its good to go.

Thanks for the replies. How do I know which tube has gone bad? I have looked at the tubes. They all seem to be glowing. The 1 12au7 seems to be dimmer than the other ones. Also, what is a good tube to put in there?

Thanks for taking the time to look at my question. I recently bought a Ampeg SVT-3 pro which outputs 450W @4 ohms, 275 at 8 ohms. I also have a 2x10, 8 ohms, 200W handling cab. And last, I have a 15" combo amp. I'm pretty sure the speaker is an 8 ohm, probably 200W (will need to verify this)...
