Double Bass Ergo megathread part II

Thanks. My Ergo has tiny dots as position markers, but most are along the edge of the fretboard. Until I get used to the spacing and fingering, I think I'll add some stick-on fretboard markers. I can remove them later, once I'm comfortable with it. I have some hemp oil that I've used for uke...

As an update... I bought it. Now what...?

    Double Bass Kala UBass

I had one and played it for several months before selling it. I loved the sound, but found the strings rolled under my fingers too much. Probably just a matter of getting used to it, but I found myself spending so much effort on finger placement that I lost the song.

Double Bass Ergo megathread part II

I found an Ergo five string for sale on Kijiji this week and took a look at it yesterday. I've made a commitment to buy it, probably get back today if the weather and my travel permit. It's a five-string. I'm not really a fretless bass player, and I'm only an amateur on electric bass, although...

How many basses do you own? (Currently)

Two. A gypsy told me I'd have more, though. I just have to break it to my wife. And my banker...

POLL! Which one of my basses would you prefer to own...

My thoughts, too. Why do so many basses look like bottle openers?

Do you agree with this statement.

The ease of learning any musical instrument is relative to your personal attributes and aptitudes. I can pick up any stringed instrument and get something tonal from it within a few minutes of experimentation. Whether it's musical or good is an opinion. I can blow and puff and pout on...

    Is this BAS?

Not if my wife has anything to say about it. No least of all will be "where do you plan to store that thing?"

    Electric basses with piezo/magnetic pickups?

I'm not uncomfortable with the idea of changing bridges, but the Epiphone Viola is a different type - tailpiece and compensated bridge as two pieces. Figure I'd have to run a block under the bridge to get the requisite height and that would look damned ugly. Might be possible to remove the...

    Electric basses with piezo/magnetic pickups?

Yes, nice, but a long way out of my price range. I can get the Epi Zenith for about $850 or $950 fretless. That's a lot closer to my price range.

    Is this BAS?

Had one and sold it after very little play. Fun but not quite what I wanted. They have a solid body now, too, but it's a tad pricey ($1,200 I believe). Found the fat, low-tension strings had a tendency to roll under my fingers, so I had to be very precise when placing them, which was a bit...

    Electric basses with piezo/magnetic pickups?

Which manufacturers (not custom makers) have BGs with piezo pickups and magnetic combined? I've been trying to find a reasonably priced model. The only one I've found is the Epiphone Zenith. Love the sound. Would like to consider other, similar options at the same (or better yet, lower)...

    Cotrol knobs on Ibanez 6-string

Thanks for the manual. I did try the forum search but nothing in any thread title suggested anything of that nature. Perhaps I used the wrong terms.

    Cotrol knobs on Ibanez 6-string

I'm rather aware of that - I have several ukes with passive electronics. In this case, the battery has just enough juice to give me a scratchy output change, but it's been difficult to figure if it was an EQ or a tone control. Thanks to the manual, above, I now know. It's a bigger question...
