well, sorry to disagree again =) but, actually, 2 amps each running bridged into 8Ω will provide slightly more power (1680w each) compared to 1 amp running bridged into 4Ω (3000w)... either configuration can drive 2 subs... but 2 amps cost more than 1 - about twice as much =) that's...

ok, I still haven't purchased the new amps because I'm still stuck on this whole "Toroidal vs SMPS" dilemma... we're talking about a large PA sound system, 8 hornloaded subs, 8 dual-15s and 4 single-15's, running at full blast for 8+ hrs at a time... built for DJ and EDM music to be played...

I've looked at both Macrotech and Microtech, which are similar, but both of them are out of my price range... the best I could do is finding some used ones on eBay, but then there's this gamble of buying something that's been toured around and abused by roadies... I've also considered Crest...

have you ever ran those Carvins at full blast for extended periods of time? what kind of speakers do they power? any line voltage issues that you've noticed?

I prefer 8 ohms for hornloaded applications - and I need 1400+ watts each, and the more headroom the better... the only amps that can do that per channel - and within my budget - that I know of - are ipr6000, cs4080hz, and ma5050... the rest I've mentioned in my posts would need to be bridged...

that's a great suggestion, thanks! I haven't considered those, but I just looked them up, and the DCM 1504L seems like a good option... Class A/B instead of D seems attractive to me... has anyone bench tested these DCM amps?
