Why bands get paid so badly and venues are disappearing.

Yeah, back home the country cover band or even small original country bands do pretty well. I'm thinking guys like Corey Smith who make a living mostly playing college towns in the south. There's even a couple of country bars around here where you could probably get consistent work as a country...

Why bands get paid so badly and venues are disappearing.

I don't think the blame the millennials thing is all that fair. I'm on the old end of millennial. I just barely make the cut for most definitions of what a millennial is, but anyway there is a huge live music scene for millennials. The problem is you have to position your bar and book bands that...

The OFFICIAL "Gretsch Bass Owners Club"

Just out of curiosity what strings do you guys use with your short scale Gretschs? My main bass is a Broadkaster and I've just been using the strings that were on it when I bought it. It's time to replace them. I have no idea what's on it now.

    IEMs sound overdriven

So, it turns out the board was set to POST-EQ for the monitors, so I switched that to pre-eq and played with the gain settings. It sounds much better now. Thanks for the feedback.

    IEMs sound overdriven

It starts right from the begging. I'll check the settings on the board and see if that's what's causing it.

    IEMs sound overdriven

I have this issue where the bass in my IEMs sounds like it has a really heavy overdrive applied to it, but the sound coming out of my cab and out of the front of house sounds clean. We run a Behringer x32 to s16s on stage and run our IEMs out of that, and into Shure se215s. I've tried using a...

The OFFICIAL "Gretsch Bass Owners Club"

Just joined the club with this Broadkaster. Our worship leader and I had to take this Gretsch brothers photo before service today. Love this thing. Definitely my favorite bass. The ole P bass may have to wait a while before it gets any stage time.

    Bag End Club.

Yep. Original driver and the cab is pristine. It was either very well loved by whoever had it before me, or it just wasn't gigged much.

    Bag End Club.

Yeah, and I found it at good ole Guitar Center of all places. Sounds great at bedroom volume. Can't wait to gig with it this weekend.

Am I crazy, no amp go direct?

I currently run a Sansamp BDDI direct to the soundboard, but I am about to move to both running the Sansamp direct and having an amp on stage just so that I can hear/feel the bass. IEMs are great for hearing the guitars, synth, vocals and all that, but I have found them to be a poor substitute...

How much are bass guitars truly worth?

All value is based on belief. A bass is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Just like the wood, the time of the employee to cut the wood, the paint, the electronics, etc. are worth exactly what the buyer and seller believe to be a fair price for those things.
