In praise and worship music the chords tend to be formed in a way that keeps a clear tonal center so in a G major progression the "D/F#" is often played in the place of an "F#m7b5" so that the chord's tone isn't as dramaticly contrasted to the sound of the G.

When it comes to slash chords I like to consult the guitarist or piano player. Sometimes guitarists are lazy and don't actually play the full chord just the root. When you know which notes they are playing it helps to make your note choices.

A JTB-500 was the first bass I ever played. I love the thing and play it at church just about every week. It is definitly a workhorse. My wife played it in marching band so it has been dinged, dropped, and played in the pouring rain.
