Never. Not even when I practice. If you're getting paid to play, it's flat out unprofessional... and having watched a buddy stumble and drop his bass in his garage after having more than a few cocktails, it's just not worth it.

Love my 5 for the same reason I picked up a 7 string guitar... that low B doesn't get used all the time, but it's wonderful to have it there to extend scales...

Take the resale value out of the picture, and Carvin instruments are great bangs for their buck (made in USA to boot)

My brother and best friend get to play my bass, but that's about it. I've taken pride over the years in keeping my gear immaculate. Quite frankly, I have trust issues along those lines when somebody asks to play the bongo and you look at their bass and it's beat to crap....

I've had the same dimarzio and planet waves cables for 10+ years now and never had a problem. Only issue on the dimarzio cable was putting a bit of Teflon tape on the threads for the plug sleeves to keep them secure, but a drop of loctite would have done the job too... other than that, no...

I'm just really happy with my setup at the moment, Bongo5 running into a GK MB500 and NEO2x12.... I think I've settled on one more bass to add to the stable (Lakland 44-AJ), and other than a couple of pedals, I think that I'm perfectly content...

Other than selling a couple that I wish I still had, nothing too drastic. I did have a friend come back from a deployment to find out his son did a "fret dressing job" with a set of needle files on his jazz bass to correct a "buzz" that developed (when he put a lighter gauge of strings on it)

Exactly. I've ordered several "customized" instruments from Carvin over the past 15 years, and have been completely happy with the results (to the point where I'm planning a couple of new builds now). I'm not sure if I'd ever go as far as having somebody else build me a fully custom...

I'm not a huge fan of straplocks, I got turned on to DiMarzio cliplock straps back in the early 90's, and have used those on every instrument that I've gigged with... eventually they'll be on the bongo but for for now I just use a regular strap and haven't had any problems with it in practice or...
