So, shop manager went home. Will know something tomorrow. We know the previous owner has had some work done on the amp. I am of the opinion that the previous owner desired the tap setting on the Output transformer be changed. My question is, is it a simple case of having the tap setting changed...

Starting to look like the OT might be an 8 ohm unit or setup that way, and the Total load 8 ohms label has been expertly painted on or something like that.

So, would this transformer be an 8 or 4 ohm unit? Or does it matter how they are wired up? Your post suggests OT's can be wired to what you want.
