It seemed in the early-mid 70's a lot of cats releasing burning fusion albums and by the end.of the decade record companies started "suggesting" adding vocals of disco tracks to the recordings to get sales...

I remember buying that when it came out after having His self titled, Journey to Love & RTF blow my mind.

Marco the manager of the Honolulu Blue Note had Dee Dee's P-bass, I don't remember the colour but incredible mojo.

I used to go to their club a lot and see them in so many configurations, some of the best music I ever witness. I'm going to disagree with Cheese, I don't think of the Breaker Bros as a music school funk band, I consider them a slamming NYC funk band stocked with some of the cities best.
