VLE and VPF are just another way to shape the tone. I understand VPF boosts bass around 35k (as well as boosting treble and cutting mids). That's interesting because the low EQ knob is centered a bit higher, at 40k. I find the VLE takes off highs in a very musical way, and maybe a bit different...
