John Janssen

I've dabbled in music before at a young age of 13 as the singer for a few years in a local cover band, The Rings of Saturn (remember this was back in 1967). We played summer gigs at plant picnics, etc. I've always wanted to learn to play a musical instrument and also read music. I want to see if I can do better than playing an "air bass".

Back in 1985, I bought a pretty blue Fender Mustang Bass and a small Fender practice amp, and started taking private lessons. However, my first child was born in June, and within a month, I knew I would not have the luxury of "free time" to practice. I sold the bass and the amp. Had to wait until now to be able to try again to learn to play.
G.A.S. List
I've always wanted a Rickenbacker Bass. Perhaps if I actually succeed in learning how to play, I might get myself one.
Influences and Teachers
As far as musicians who play the bass are concerned, I've admired Chris Squire of Yes, John Entwhistle of the Who, and Dusty Hill of ZZ Top.
Hobbies and Interests
Music, motorcycles, marine aquariums, my Siberian Husky, Reno.
