Thanks for the suggestion. The reissue is actually what I have. But it took a long time to find. Aria doesn't seem to make very many of them.

Aria & Aria Pro II Club (Part Four)

What would you say is the closest modern equivalent, tone-wise, to an SB-1000? I tried a Cirrus and while it’s a nice bass for lots of reasons, it doesn’t sound like my Aria. Talking specifically about the sound of an SB-1000 with the BB circuit all the way up.

    NBD - Aria SB-1000B

OK, so I was chasing the Duran Duran bass tone from the early days. Self-titled, Rio, Ragged Tiger, that era. Of course, people told me the secret was to get an Aria SB-1000, since that's what John Taylor played on those records. But those are hard to come by. And I knew that he'd been playing...

    practicing with headphones

I recently went through this pain. My first purchase was Sony WH-RF400, which, as the name implies, are RF wireless, not bluetooth, not even digital. These have no noticeable latency, but don't sound great. It does weird, hissy things to the low end. Sounds kind of like low-bit-rate digital if...

    Peavey Cirrus preamp question

Well, this is embarrassing. There’s nothing wrong with the bass after all. The problem was my AxeFX. Long story short, the output of the Cirrus preamp is very hot, and the AxeFX couldn’t handle it until I tweaked the level on the A/D converter for the main input. I discovered this when I...

    Peavey Cirrus preamp question

Unfortunately the seller is in Indonesia, so a return would likely cost me more to ship than just fixing the problem. I also don’t feel right about going after the seller, because it’s entirely possible that they didn’t know about the problem (it appears to be a shop, not an individual). I did...

    Peavey Cirrus preamp question

Reverb. The seller claimed it was new, and it does look that way. I have no way of knowing if the seller knew about the preamp problem.

    Peavey Cirrus preamp question

Thanks for the suggestion, but as I said in my original post, I already put fresh batteries in there.

    Peavey Cirrus preamp question

I’ve emailed and called Peavey. No response. Pretty disappointing.

    Peavey Cirrus preamp question

I picked up a Cirrus about a week ago (thanks to everyone who made recommendations in my previous thread, btw) and it's a beauty, but I have a question about the preamp. When I plug it in, it goes through this weird series of volume swells for about a minute, before it finally settles down...

Peavey Cirrus are hard to find. What would you get instead?

Love this. I totally agree that obsessing over gear is frequently a waste of time. For me, wanting something that sounds authentic helps me get "in character" so to speak, and I think helps me play better. I've been in a couple tribute bands, but this will be the first one that needs a more...

Peavey Cirrus are hard to find. What would you get instead?

I'm only seeing three of 'em on Reverb (as I said up at the top of the thread, I'm only looking for 4-string versions). Of those, one's local pickup only, and one's in Indonesia, and I'd rather not take my chances with international shipping. So there's only one option at the moment. It's a nice...

    That's gorgeous, but I'm looking for a 4, not a 5. Otherwise I'd be talking to ya.

Ha, well, I'm a DD fan, not a DD historian, so maybe I didn't know that Arias were the bass he played on the 80s records. I was a kid then so I wasn't even thinking about playing bass when DD were huge.
