Jon McBass

Been playing bass since age 17 in a Zeppelin cover band. Previously played regionally around the Northeast for many years, often >120 gigs a year, all kinds of venues, large and small, clubs, festivals, corporate, weddings, you name it. Roots rock, blues, Top-40, show bands... A number of recording credits. Did a career in the software industry including senior management, during which there was little time for music. Relocated to South Carolina. Recently retired and back into music.

Influences and Teachers
Self-taught on bass and guitar; studied piano and pipe organ (now THAT is bass...) as a kid, most notably at New England Conservatory of Music, but gave that up at age 13 when I discovered the guitar...

Influences, off the top of my head: John Paul Jones, Jack Bruce, Paul McCartney, James Jamerson, Walter Becker, Chuck Rainey, Ray Brown, Freddie Washington... Could go on and on...
Hobbies and Interests
Besides performing and recording? Family, sailing, fine arts, design, photography, nature, organic cooking, natural healing, computer technology (formerly worked at Oracle), yoga, meditation, dance (ballet and modern)...
Teaching Credentials
Have tried teaching and totally suck at it.
