    Active vs passive?

I have the MXR Bass DI+, and it loves both as well. Also, I am a HUGE fan of your pun there.

    Active vs passive?

I would have to agree. The stingray does sound better, however, the Epi is the model that Fender sued them for. Too much like a Fender P-Bass to pass as an original product. So it does sound Fender-ish (Especially considering the fact that I've worked on it to get the best tone out of the pups)

It is a 2 band preamp. But thanks guys, I'll definitely take both. You can never have too much gear, right? Haha

    Active vs passive?

Going to be involved in a recording session soon. Any thoughts on using active (Stingray) vs passive (Epiphone Accubass)? I've heard that a passive bass works better in the studio, but I wanted some more input. Pun mildly intended.

The official "Show your basses" thread part 19!

Everyone here has such nice basses. Joining TB is really the best decision I could have made to be a better bassist. Anyway, here's my Sterling SUB Ray4... In my favorite color ever.

Here it is. Ignore the Sterling to the right, that one was more than $200. And no, the hair tie isn't there to help mute the strings. It actually keeps the E from popping out of the nut, but I don't have the urge to fix it. I like it to be a little junky, since it's my beater bass.

What's The Major Cause Of Strings Going Out Of Tune?

Try some Big Bends Nut Sauce. Most tuning issues come from a dry nut causing the string to jump when you adjust the tuners. This can also happen when the string finally pops into the position you were trying to get it to. Check out some lubricants for the nut to see if that helps.

I don't have an actual picture of mine, but I picked up one of these babies in rough shape for $60 a couple years ago. Put about 10-15 bucks worth of work into it, and have a passable P Bass tone. Bought it originally because I needed a bass, and a beater is never a bad thing to have. Then when...
