    Phrasing practice?

That's spot-on what I was looking for, and the fact that there's more where that came from is even better. Thanks a lot!

Who left their bass mark on you

The earliest influence in my playing would probably have to be Cliff Burton. Later on I shifted a bit and took a bit more from Steve Harris's style. All of which has been supplemented by bits from Sabbath, Deep Purple, and a few others along the way. Oh, and my bass teacher, Scott Harlan...

    Phrasing practice?

I've been playing on and off for some time now, and while I'm good with creating riffs based on 8th, 16th, or galloping rhythms, I'm trying to branch out a bit. Influences to date have been primarily Steve Harris and Cliff Burton, along with miscellaneous interesting bits from the 70s. I can...

What is today's closest version of a Pre-CBS Fender?

Silly as it may sound, have you considered a vintage Squier, perhaps? I have a '62 reissue P-bass from the JV series and it's been pretty awesome (got mine as my first bass at a pawn shop for $250, but you're more likely to see them for between $800-1,400, based on eBay at the moment)...

So far I've noticed that it's a far brighter sound than my main bass (JV P-Bass with D'Addario Chromes; extremely mellow sound), but I'm having a little bit of trouble...

Looking for a good practice amp to go with what I play

My two primary basses are a 1983 Japanese Squire P-bass and a 1972 Gibson EB-0. Ideally, something that my Epiphone SG would sound good through as well would be awesome. My current rig (1980 Traynor 50-watt tube head into a Fender 2x15 cabinet) works great, but I need something that will sound...
