I haven't done the method you describe, but they don't "appear" to be twisted. However, if I was stringing it wrong, wouldn't I get the complaint about other strings/notes as well? I guess I can try that the next time, but I've spent a fortune on strings alone thinking that was the problem -...

I'm not sure, can you elaborate a bit? I don't take them all off at once, I don't let the ball of the string in the bridge twist, I wind inside out (counterclockwise). So if it's something outside of that, I'm not sure what you mean.
