    When I started looking into buying an eight string bass I remembered John Paul Jones played one behind Diamanda Galas. That voice still gives me goosebumps, like hearing Jaco or Stanley Clarke for the first time.

    Is Ampeg done for?

    I have a Portaflex too. Bought brand new. Two gigs later it failed to function. At least it still was under warranty to repair. The repair shop wasn't a fan of the Ampeg company. Haven't trusted it for live gigs since. Which is too bad , because my standup sounded pretty nice through it.
