I think these might be more rare than you mentioned. My understanding is there were 150 sandblasted basses in total. Half were Precisions and half were Jazzes, and within those models half were blue and half were red. I have a blue Precision that's awesome. GLWTT!

Nope, did not have to route but did have to make new holes to anchor the bridge to the bass. Since you can't reuse the existing holes you need to be very careful about placing the bridge so the strings run from the nut to the bridge in alignment with the neck. Not a biggie, so long as you get...

The zero fret is a cool feature. Don't know why it isn't more common. GLWTS!

I have one of these and they're truly fantastic. For someone who's looking for a lightweight Ric, the bridge on these weigh a stunning 12.5oz(!). Also starting with an already light 4003AC, I replaced my bridge with a Hipshot aluminum Ric replacement bridge and got the bass down to 7.8lbs...
