ok, well im actually having it done at a guitar shop so im hoping they do a good job but i was a bit iffy about having it done because it is permanent, but i might just go for it

I was thinking of adding a thumb rest to my electric bass, my pick up is too close to the bridge so i have a big gab of empty space and its hard to play because i have no where to place my thumb, would putting a Thumb Rest be a good idea is there any pros or cons to this?
