If you cut flat wounds the outer wrapping can unravel. It's simpler to just buy them short if you can.

I have been tweaking my new toy (SB12) little by little. So far I've replaced the speaker with an Eminence Beta and replaced electrolytic capacitors. Also installed a 3 prong plug. It was my first time doing a re-cap so I was a little nervous. But I was slow and methodical, and managed to do it...

I just got the Eminence Beta 12A for my SB-12 and so far I'm very happy with it!

The insulation inside my portaflex cabinet is in tatters and falling down. Can anyone recommend a good replacement material? Thanks

While we're on the subject of shock mounts, my SB12 does not have any. I assume this feature was added after 1965, when mine was built. Is it much trouble to add them and is it worth bothering?
