    Hartke 2000 or Laney RB9?

well I can't comment on Hartke as I've never used one, but from what I can tell Laney stuff has the price edge over Hartke and having owned 2 RB series amps I can tell you that they sound great and are extremely solid and reliable. good luck!!

    New rig question...

well thanks for your input everyone, although I get the feeling that i'm being looked down on a bit here like I don't know what the eff i'm doing :) I ended up buying a used Laney RB6 combo which sounds great and was perfect for first rehearsal, should be more than enough for gigs and was...

    New rig question...

thanks for your input guys - looks like the recommendations are going against the little 'studio' rig, i'll still give it a try as it's all sitting around not being used. if it explodes I will be sure to let you know!!! :)

    Trace Elliot AH1200 & Cabs

Trace stuff is awesome - the new gear is the best they've made for a long time, possibly since the original UK-owned days. I don't know what sort of price that works out at in English money, but I can't imagine you would go wrong with that setup. 2x10 and 1x15 would give you a nice full...

    New rig question...

cool man. yeah, I figured it would be fine, but it's a little overkill and the drummer of this other band is gonna be playing with hot rods rather than sticks. I can just picture me turning up with even the 4x10 cab and it being the biggest bit of kit out of the whole band! not that it's...

    New rig question...

hi people! I've been asked last week to work with a country/pop group and wanted to see what you guys thought about a possible rig I'm putting together for it. currently I play in quite a full-on rock band and my current gigging rig is an 80's Trace Stack (4x10 & 1x18) which is awesome but...

Which pre for a MM Stingray copy? SD, East or SGD?

thanks everyone for your advice on this. looks like i'm gonna go for the SD or the Nordy pre then. I've had a chance to use the new bass in anger at serious volumes and i think i'm gonna have to swap the warman pup out for something a little higher end. it's almost too powerful, causes some...

Which pre for a MM Stingray copy? SD, East or SGD?

Hi folks! So, before anyone asks i just spent the last few hours reading the various MM megathreads for advice, but can't find anything that answers my question specifically, so here goes... I got my Maestro mega cheapy MM SR copy back from the luthier last week - he sorted the fret ends...

Suggested power amp to drive 2 old TE cabs?

haha! i did this and found the whole argument!!! in the end i picked up a cab that i saw on ebay - a Trace with a missing badge for £30!!! It turned out to be a 1x18! Anyhow, for what it's worth - the combination of 1x18 on the bottom with the 4x10 up top sounds amazing to my ears...

    Anyone familiar with MAESTRO basses?

just to throw in my experience with Maestro basses... i have been GASing for a 5 string MM forever, being a lefty, and being poor, or rather unwilling to shell out 2 grand for a US MM, i saw the Maestro MM copy on ebay and pulled the trigger. £94 plus £50 shipping from the US to the UK i...

Suggested power amp to drive 2 old TE cabs?

to be honest i've never struggled for power out of my AH200! i think i just have extended GAS and was imagining a mega-rig based around the pre out of my AH200! those Trace Heads are ridiculous in power - i played for years with an incredibly loud drummer (Olly Smith - used to play for Lauren...

Suggested power amp to drive 2 old TE cabs?

yeah i thought that might be the case, perhaps a more realistic amp to make a difference would be something putting ou about 800w per channel but i don't wanna risk blowing any speakers...

Suggested power amp to drive 2 old TE cabs?

oh and i don't doubt the PV puts out more real power than the Behringer, i'm familiar with their gear... not that i hate it!! :)
