....as an update I've discovered there is an ASIO plugin for OBS Studio that supports multiple ASIO devices so I'll try that tomorrow. Thanks to everyone for their contributions.

Thanks folks, I do have the Ableton DAW that came with the Focusrite but I have never used it. The thing is I want to record video and audio together which is why I was using OBS Studio. Up until now using OBS for recording just myself I had a camera recording on the video input, the desktop...

It appears OBS Studio can record up to 6 audio tracks but, from what I understand, only 2 of these can be the ASIO driver type, ie via the Focusrite

Now I have to consider my options...I would like to video myself and others playing up to four instruments through the Focusrite 4i4. I thought OBS Studio would let me do that but apparently not. I'll have to see if there is anything similar to OBS that can handle more than 2 audio tracks
