Not sure what to make of this statement.

I know not every one is as horrible of a person as I am but I would just say: "Well, I was just getting tired of playing poopy knockoffs" :D

You kept the stock bushings with the Hipshot Ultralights?

So! The little neck dive that my Ray34CA had started to bother me more and more, the Hipshot HB7 were lighter than the stock tuners, but only a little bit and it didn't help as much. So I decided to go for the Licensed Ultralights - I used to hate the look from the back of the headstock, I just...

The Fender Jazz Bass Club Part Seven!!!

Of course. Neck: American Original 60's Jazz Bass Neck (Rosewood veneer (curved) fretboard, clay dots (at least it looks like it), vintage small frets) Tuners: Gotoh GB640 (a lightweight remake of the vintage Fender reverse tuners) Body: Fender Player Series Jazz Bass body (3-piece Alder - these...

The Fender Jazz Bass Club Part Seven!!!

Okay ... this has been a long time coming ... So I assembled the bass. And it became this And it was great. But then something happened ... a couple of months later (unlike the 12 months that Thomann told me), the American Original neck became available ... So I bought. Put it on the body. And...

Gentlemen, did any one put an SD MM humbucker in their Ray34(CA), or really any of the other SbMM StingRays? The Ray34CA preamp has two wire inputs(?) labeled B and W which makes sense for the stock pickup since it only has a black and white wires, but the SD pickup has multiple wires.

What's your approach to having more than one bass? Purely tone, or are there other reasons?

I have two jazz basses (white, sunburst) and three SbMM Ray34CA (white, sunburst, black). And the reason for having multiple of the same model for me is... color. Sometimes I wanna play the sunburst one, sometimes the white one. I have long made peace with the fact that I do care about how a...

Just wanted to show how it looks. These Ray34CA heavy gloss necks get really sticky once the sweat kicks in in rehearsal :D I sanded it down to wood and then applied teak oil. It's like I have unlocked the necks full playability.

I have sanded down my Ray34CA necks a week ago and it was the best decision ever. I'm sure you can sand down the neck on your Ray25CA. I'm also sure you can just swap the pickup, the bass will play just fine even if the pole pieces won't align a 100%. Can't help with the preamp question. Hipshot...

Hmm, so it's not (as) conductive as copper tape. But does this mean that it doesn't shield at all?

The Fender Jazz Bass Club Part Seven!!!

I wanted the American Original 60's JB neck. It also has a 9.5 inch radius (like the Vintera Road Worn), but a rosewood fingerboard. Really I just wanted the rosewood as opposed to the pau ferro fretboard. Also the Vintera neck is road worn and the body is not so it looks a bit miss-matched. But...

The Fender Jazz Bass Club Part Seven!!!

So, I guess I should preface this by saying that I really only ever played the 60's reissues made in mexico, all the various series. So my experience with each and every 7.25 inch radius jazz bass was that the G string saddle would bottom out before I could reach 2mm on the 12th fret...

The Fender Jazz Bass Club Part Seven!!!

Oh yeah! I just love the 60's JB look and feel. Well except for the 7.25 inch radius. Once I saw that the Road Word Vintera (also the American Original) is a 9.5 inch radius and that they sell the neck separately, I was like, "I'm gonna build myself a parts-bass". Was a bit tough to get the...

The Fender Jazz Bass Club Part Seven!!!

See I wasn't really thinking about that. The pickups came with a copper (?) strip beneath the foam. But I have nothing for the control plate cavity. I will look in to it.
