I got taught by two people, one a metal fan who played by ear and one 1950's rock n roller who only knew that style. Taught me a whole bucket load of bad habits, and not much that let's me play naturally. I find it hard to ad lib or use scales as I wasn't taught that way, it was just "play this"...

Can anyone recommend a good teaching book for improving bass? I need to unlearn what I know and start again from scratch really. Or any iPhone apps would be good. Cheers!
