Beautiful bass! What is the string spacing at the bridge on one of these? What is the scale? Thank You

Smallest lightest Bass combo amp for gigging with the most Watts.,

Markbass CMD102P. 2 10" speakers, side by side. 44 lbs. 300 watts. Been using one for 5 years, very reliable. Excellent sound quality, well constructed. Plenty of volume for small/medium gigs, inside or outside. For large gigs where you're going through the house system, it kicks back to...

    Nordstrands in a Lakland 55-02 with LH3

It went well. I installed a NJ5S in the neck and a MM5.4 in the bridge. I used the stock 50K blend pot and it sounds fine. The swap has a grittier sound than stock. The pickups are very responsive to my touch. I like the Nordy's better than the Hansons, although I have not had a band...

    Nut Width Versus Tone?

False. Nut width has nothing to do with tone IME. What testing have you done to reach this conclusion? You would have to have dozens of identical basses, with the only exception being nut width, to test your theory. Have you applied a scientific method to reach this conclusion?

    Nordstrands in a Lakland 55-02 with LH3

I have heard those sound clips, Lightgroove. I think the Nordstrand MM replacement pup sounds more aggressive than the Lakland Hanson pups. I don't know for sure if they'll get me where I want to be or not, but I am on a quest for a heavier, more aggressive sound. For background, I'm a...

    Nordstrands in a Lakland 55-02 with LH3

Thanks, for the follow up to our conversation, Carey, I appreciate that. Glad I remembered our conversation correctly. :-) Right on about the 50k blend pot, MMBongo, that's what I found in my control cavity. Glad to know this swap will work, gonna do it as soon as the coin allows. Thanks...

Who are the most Underrated Rock players?

Hey, Driver800! Props to you, my man! Eight pages into this thread and finally someone mentions Graham Maby! I was blown away by his versatility. He could rock with energy and was masterful with his grooves, building up tension and then releasing it like an orgasm. Plus he could play jazz...

    Nordstrands in a Lakland 55-02 with LH3

Now that makes sense! Thanks, MMBongo, I appreciate the information. Why have a passive bypass if the pickups are active? Good stuff, thanks, man. Don't forget to rebel against authority,

    Nordstrands in a Lakland 55-02 with LH3

Actually, Leo knew the preamp was active. He had to make an inquiry and call me back to advise on the pickups, which he said are active. I can't tell whether the pups are passive from the photo, my brother. If I was better versed in electronics I wouldn't be on here asking questions, lol...

    Nordstrands in a Lakland 55-02 with LH3

Thanks, guys. MMbongo, Leo at Lakland told me the stock Hanson pups are active. What makes you say they are passive? Yes, Carey at Nordstrom said his pups might work with the stock 50k blend pot, but he also told me they were designed to work with a 250k blend pot, so optimal sound may...

    Nordstrands in a Lakland 55-02 with LH3

Anyone running a Lakland 55 series with Nordstrand MM and J replacements and the stock LH3 preamp? I am contemplating this pickup swap in my 55-02, looking for a grittier sound. I have read the limited information on Talkbass and in all cases it appears that the LH3 was not retained. I spoke...

What bass player inspired you to start playing?

Geddy Lee. I was a Rush nerd when I was a kid. I loved his sound, creativity and chops. Still do, there's a piece of him in the prog rock section of my heart.

    A Tale of 5 Laklands

Very cool, Mark. Enjoy the 55-AJ! The black cherry finish is especially attractive. My 55-02 has the cherry sunburst finish and maple neck, which I also think is very attractive. I'll be rocking a bunch of college kids in Princeton with it late into the night tonight. Peace Brothers!

    A Tale of 5 Laklands

Thanks for all the comments, guys. Basspraiser, I certainly will follow up with Lakland, they should hear about this from a customer. Totally digging the 55-02! I've gigged with it and it sits real nice in the mix and gets positive reviews from my classic rock band. When girls dance you know...
