Truss rod extremely tight will not loosen - ideas?

Remember the rule “Righty tighty Lefty Loosey”. Also with next attached to body which helps in bending the neck slightly forward as the previous poster suggested but using knee to press against the lower portion of the neck while the body is sitting on carpet, folded towel, or similar items to...

    Replacing Pots PJ bass

Sorry, but I don’t see anywhere you talking about using a switch and 2 caps in the method I mention. You only mentioned you using a single .047, .033, .068 and .1 singularly in the following sentence: “Also, instead of the .047 typical tone cap, I use different pots for different applications...

    Replacing Pots PJ bass

By hot lead he is referring to the wiper lug (center) of the pot for those who do not know. Also, a mod I have used that works well is using a SPST toggle or push pull switch on a pot, I tie a .033uf cap from the one pot wiper to ground then have the switch switch in another .033uf cap to...

    Replacing Pots PJ bass

Tone pots are typically Audio Taper. Volumes can be Audio Taper or Linear taper. Basses typically come with Audio Taper but there are several that like Linear Taper for Volume pots. Replace them with good potentiometers like CTS, Bourns, Dunlop, or Alpha pots. There may be others and someone may...

    Sire Bass Club!

I once had an EBMM Sterling in early 2000’s. It was of excellent quality and components. It was a bit growly for me. I wish I had thought to try flats on it to tone down some of the growl because it was one of the best basses I have ever owned.

SWR amp - no sound - help troubleshooting

You are right, I should not have assumed they had just enough knowledge to try parts changing and wanted to go that route. To troubleshoot correctly your suggestion to use a scope is a valid one

SWR amp - no sound - help troubleshooting

Have you tried headphones in headphone Jack? If ok then try them in the effects jacks with headphones. Use opamps as designated on the board. Swap one at a time if no help go to next in line. They are so cheap I would just change them all Digikey and Mouser electronics should have them

    Concentric / Dual 250K pots?

Yes, it is just that in soldering it is best to make a tight connection through wire lug. You can put a little solder onto the straight leg of that pot and on the wire itself then tack them together. Works but not as easy for some people that is all. If one can do that then not a big deal.

    Concentric / Dual 250K pots?

Thanks, nice to know. They will work however they are designed for circuit boards and do not have wire lugs. You will basically be tacking the wires on with solder.

    Concentric / Dual 250K pots?

WD was the only place I could find them. Shame CTS used to make them but bought the last CTS 250K/250K about 12 or so years ago.

Your Opinion on these Pickups Matters

I understand. I was basing my experiences with the ones Had owned in the past. They were not of VM variety. I did here one 2000 Used Squier a guy was considering buying at GC. I told him I loved the tone of that bass. Better than some Fenders I have owned.
