Well, after ~8 years I still have my SR1205EL. I bought it new in early 2015 and I play it all the time still. The gold hardware finish hasn't worn down yet, even at the bridge for me. Overall, it's held up really well. No breakage or strange issues. The neck has remained true; no fret buzz...

Only if their reasoning was for looks ... Hah! Seriously though. I wouldn't be offended, necessarily, but I'd be concerned about how we're operating. The primary craft should be sonic, not visual/showmanship, IMO. That said, P-basses sound great! They fit really well between a kick and snare.

For me, it's all about the volume pot. If I dial the volume down to about 7 or less (scale of 10, say), I get a great, mellow 'vintage tone.' This in combination with using the neck pickup hits the spot--almost P-bass like. I know it sounds too simple, but that's what I've found. My main Ibanez...
