Low Wattage Amp for a '51 P Bass

Thanks everyone for the plethora of gear suggestions, advice, and personal anecdotes! The conclusion that I have reached was to give the Fender Rumble series another look. I had disparaged the 25 watt earlier but have found both the 40 and 100 to be full of range and versatility. I am very...

Low Wattage Amp for a '51 P Bass

Low wattage because I don't gig. It seems counter-intuitive to set up a bedroom amp with wattage in the hundreds. Maybe this is incorrect but: play a small amp loudly rather than a big amp quietly. I was curious about combos such as the Rumble 800 or the ampeg RB-210. There was this idea that...

Neat thing about France, they don't like it when you grab a guitar without asking.

Low Wattage Amp for a '51 P Bass

The ones I haven't tried in-store are the 15, 40, and 800. I liked the 100 more than the 200 because it felt punchier at flat eq.

Low Wattage Amp for a '51 P Bass

Appreciate the helpful comment and instrument solidarity! Would you argue that the 8" speaker is optimal compared with the 10", 12", and 15"? Have you ever found yourself wanting 50 watts over the 25? Cheers,

Low Wattage Amp for a '51 P Bass

Rumble's are fine but there is evidently a world of amplification out there. I'm more so interested in finding what compliments the single coil pickup best.

Low Wattage Amp for a '51 P Bass

30 Watts is in the right ballpark. Plus my bass is great, even if it doesn't say Fender.

Low Wattage Amp for a '51 P Bass

I'm using an Audio Technica ATH-EQ300M and like it. Its not very loud and I suppose I have to play a bit different. Could you recommend a pair of headphones? The difference between a regular headset and one for bass isn't too clear. Why would someone choose a headset with a 1/4 in jack vs a 3.5...

Low Wattage Amp for a '51 P Bass

Thanks, this seems truly viable! The videos serve as good examples and I'm surprised 5 Watts can sound like that. Cheers

Low Wattage Amp for a '51 P Bass

Thanks for the recc! I've been curious whether there are many headphone/earbud dedicated amplifiers. I've owned both Vox Amplug2 and 3. The 3rd sounds great and is a good improvement from the 2nd. It starts to fuzz a little bit the harder you play, which I happen to like.

I totally get what you mean about the fingers. As far as presets, I try to stay flat/mid on everything. The right words to describe the rumble 25 elude me. I'd say that it was lacking some sort of warmth. Increasing the master volume did not help with a certain underwhelming-ness to it. I...

Low Wattage Amp for a '51 P Bass

Hey folks, I'm wondering what practice or low wattage amp would make my Squire P bass, with an alnico single-coil pickup, really shine. Considering speaker size, wattage, solid vs tube, etc. I've run it through a Fender rumble 25 but I found that amp to be somewhat lacking. Cheers,
