The current trend has sadly shifted back to Classic looking Fender or Fender clones. Ibanez makes more modern-styled instruments. Give it time.

To me it only matters when you are looking at an already made design but with a different headstock. For example, Sire basses are Fender clones, so that headstock puts me off. Because you already associate the body with the headstock. Or a musicman copy with a 2+2 headstock. It's just weird...

I think the matching actually needs to be between the cabinet and the speaker. Heads and cabs can be mixed, if you understand how each choice will affect the outcome. For example, you can take a hartke amp which is very clean/flat sounding, but if you pair it with an acoustic/ampeg cab it will...
