This is helpful. Any other specific recommendations for specific bass amp/cab settings in such conditions? Do those thick rubberized damper mats/pads work under bass cabs? Does putting the cab on an elevated/angled stand work?

I saw Wilco play in Chicago last month, and the first night I experienced this exact effect at the rear of the main floor, situated below the balcony above. The bass drum and bass guitar were OVERWHELMING for the whole show. Two nights later in the upper balcony, the sound was balanced perfectly.

I tried a Squier Paranormal J yesterday and couldn't believe how well-built it was. I never really paid much attention to Squier basses... but this turned my head around. Exceptional QC and construction with a thicker neck at the nut. Seriously considering it. Looks really sharp, quite unique.
