I've been playing metal/rock bass for 10 years or more, I play thumb, finger, pick and Lemmy-style. All have value in a band. Also bare in mind you can get a pick like tone finger picking as well - Steve Harris for example. Play what you want I say, there is room for everything in music.

I agree but I'm looking for something to really sink my teeth into and be quite obsessive about :hyper: I may try pop/new wave just for something different.

Bowie is someone you have to listen to 4/5 times to get it. Superficially a lot of his stuff I find not that great but you just keep listening anyway. He is the real deal.

Are there any regular music composers in here? What do you compose? I write often but I need a new direction/genre musically (from rock/metal).

I recon I'm the lone wolf type, count me in!

I write music in my spare time. I am looking for a style to get into other than rock/metal that allows compositional/musical bass lines rather than simple lines. Something a bit laid back compared to metal but still interesting. Hope that clears it up. Must be someone out there who understands...
