I’m not the best with wiring and it wasn’t working when I tried to put it together, so off to the shop it will go. Still, it has a Retrovibe Stinger preamp, Bartolini pickup, Hipshot tuners, and an AlBridge. All parts bought years ago and sat on until now. I’m super happy with how it looks:

After 3 years and a few days, I got mine back. Aside from a couple of tiny, almost impossible to notice air bubbles, it looks like a factory quality finish. I just wish it didn’t take 3+ years and an email threatening legal action to get it done. Best of luck to all of you still waiting, but I’m...

    The CORT Club (Part 2)

Here are my two. Both have Bartolini MK5CBC pickups. The A5 has a Bartolini NTMB H-5.3 preamp. The B4 has a Flexcore with a coil splitting switch. Sounds killer and is very versatile. Kinda wishing I went with the Flexcore in the A5 too, but it still sounds great.

    Sire Bass Club!

Good points. I bought it from Sweetwater less than 3 months ago. It’s past Sweetwaters return period, but within the warranty period. Sweetwater has quite a few fretless Sires in stock, and it looks like a majority of them are discounted pretty heavily. If that’s any indication, I’m guessing...

    Sire Bass Club!

I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue, and if so, whether Sire's customer service fixed it. I bought a V7 fretless in December. The epoxied fret board isn't totally smooth where the fret markers are, particularly on the edges. It almost like they glued in the fret lines, sanded it down...

    The CORT Club (Part 2)

How do you treat or maintain the finish on an A5 FMMH? I just got one a couple of weeks ago and love almost everything about it. The one thing I was not thrilled with was the lack of any type of finish. I knew that it didn't have a clear coat, but I thought it at least had some type of oiled...

2 years and 6 months here. It's been so long that when/if it ever comes, it'll feel like I won some type of sweepstakes. I honestly almost forgot about it until I got a notification of activity in this thread.

    Sire Bass Club!

I'm not terribly happy with the pickups on my M2 5 string. I was thinking of changing out the pickups and maybe putting in a Darkglass Tone Capsule. I know the pickup is a bit of an odd size, but close to a P2. Has anyone made a P2 size pickup work in their M series? Do you have a gap or did...

Can my cabinet fry my head?

So it seems to be working normally again for the past day. I went to the store and explained the issue. He said it sounds like it could be static buildup on the transformer and suggested tapping it on the top (percussive maintenance) to possibly discharge the static. I tried it, and although...

Can my cabinet fry my head?

    Multi-meter has the cabinet hovering right around 8 ohms (7.7 - 9.0)

Can my cabinet fry my head?

I’m going to see if I can find my multimeter and I’ll look up exactly how to check it. The cab is one of those ridiculously light ones (23lbs) and it seems like the V3 is more prone to soldering issues, so maybe they’re not the best match for each other? It’s pretty much a bedroom setup that...

Can my cabinet fry my head?

I’ve read about defective V3s and RB combos before. It does seem somewhat widespread, but since I’ve gone through 3 of them I was thinking it could be something else. You may be right, though.

Can my cabinet fry my head?

Could a wiring issue on a cabinet cause an amp to fry? I bought a new 8 ohm Markbass 2x10 cab and an Ampeg Venture V3 head at the end of last year. Within a couple of weeks, I started getting a crackling noise. Ampeg replaced the head. The new one worked for about 5 months until it started...
