New Pickups are in From Joce Dominger. Taking it back tomorrow to get them installed and get this bass back to original sound! Well close as possible anyway!

Finally got around to taking it to my luthier. I was going to have the original single coil pups put back in but alas they are very weak 0K so I ordered a new pickup set from dominger single coils jazz pickups. I love the thumpers he made for my p bass. So once that’s all in I’ll take it back...

I agree that’s why I love the 88 peavy foundation rock solid bass very light.

Also if we really want to split hairs the old dimarzio j bass pickups may be heavier and they have more wire also that and the ashtray and neck p/u cover off maybe it gets closer to 9 pounds.

What do you consider boat anchor and lightweight btw. My 79 USA T-40 weighs as much S a Buick and my 88 USA Foundation is extremely light. Again idk exact weights but I think the foundation is around 8 lbs and the T-40 is like 12 or something absolutely ridiculous.

Ok put my son in the scale then added the bass. It’s a digital scale. So it was 9.5 lbs that’s with both pickup covers on it. I put those on today just to look at it like that lol.

Ok I took the neck off today. Here’s the pics. So there is no neck stamp or pencil markings. So immediately I was worried even though this is all aged the same and patina matches everywhere. I was looking in the fender site and they said between 73-81 neck stamps were often omitted or written in...

So what are the odds someone played the absolute hell out of this thing and it just kept working and didn’t break and stayed all original? Seems crazy to think to me.

I guess after looking online that cap looks stock also. I’m def going back to the stock pickups and wiring and keeping this thing OG original.
