A couple mm's on the e and g either side, at least on my bass, brought the volume back up

Changing to flats does alter the sound a bit. Roundwounds have a little more edge and are a little more articulate. Think jazz with flatwounds.

That heavier bridge on my bass noticeably improved the sustain. I like the comment on the flats! I may just try that! Your Luther may have something there Morrighan.

Hahahahaha!!!! This one simple truth about us musicians will stand till the end of time. We buy, sell, and trade so much gear, at 59 yrs I can truthfully say there are a lot of pieces I still wish I had... and no matter how good something is we see that bone reflected in the water and drop...

Then don't! It's a subjective call! I changed out for recording purposes, lower noise floor. For gigging live, it's a great sounding bass. I think there were those who got pissed or felt cheated that it was represented as having humbuckers in there, when they didn't. Then the whole mess with...

Hi! Yes, a direct drop in, except that spacing is very slightly tighter, so that's why I suggested that heavier bridge upgrade so you can bring those strings in a hair. Sounds great too!

Everything being said here, I have been (and still have at least one guitar with a P90) a huge fan of the single coil sound. Single coils can be articulate and clear, and possess a certain sweetness that any really dedicated tele or strat player can testify to. That being said, the single coils...

Sounds sweet! I think Artec is awesome. Great products at a more than fair price.

Yep! That's the way to do it!!! Just about all my guitars are like that. Two partscasters I built myself, both with noiseless Dimarzios in em'. And yes, BTW, I love Scooby Doo!

Problem with me is I have very low income, I mean LOW (hey, but in 2 bands so that counts! Lmao). So just cannot afford, no way, the expensive alternatives, like the TV Jones, etc. Can't see puting expensive units in a low end guitar... otherwise I'd just buy that Rick I've always wanted and be...

I looked for those too. Couldn't find them anywhere, or any reference to them. I also own a Gretsch G2210, great guitar, that I replaced the blacktop broadtrons with a good set of filtertrons. Both 6 string pickups. The Artec were the only ones I could find, besides a few cheaper no name pieces...

Thanks for the correction! Yes, Hipshot Kickass 4. Here's an eBay link. Hipshot 4 String KickAss Bass Bridge | eBay Don't get the Fender Bridge. You need a bridge that allows slight string spacing adjustments, just to pull those outer strings in about a millimeter and a half or so. You won't...
