love of Ampeg and other Scroll Basses, Part 2

Funny you should mention that! ;) I told him that I was watching one closely recently and he said they all hated them at the time. Thought they were ugly. Ha. But they are so flucking badass looking now. Aging so well. He also said he didn't want to have the scroll headstock but I guess we...

the main difference between the I and II is the on board EQ. I have two of the IIs. they're awesome. you (and your brother) will definitely be blown away by the tone.

thank you for your advice, Bruce! the neck is nice and straight and not bowed forward. we're definitely not going to fool with the truss rod unless Dennis says something otherwise. this came set up with flat wounds, seemingly very old. will experiment and see what I like best. have only played...

just plugged it in for a test before it gets taken to the bass doctor tomorrow. the action is too high but sounds good so far and feels great! much lighter than I expected, and not as massive feeling (or heavy!) as my magnums. and WOW it's pretty!

the pictures made everything look way worse than they turned out to be. the finish looked terrible in those photos, and is really not so bad in reality. the "crack" is the scarf joint that could probably use a little epoxy or whatever. not major. we were more concerned about the truss rod, but...

Thanks, Bruce! When we were frantically trying to verify that it was indeed an AMB, your website was invaluable. Thank you for all the research and compiling of information that you've done! I find that level of dedication to something really beautiful! The listing was only up for a few hours...

dealer had it mislabeled as an AEB, but as you can see, it's an AMB. And it's ALL original. Pick guard never been removed, bridge never adjusted, nothing has been touched on this. the serial number is 000169. I hear that's pretty low.
