    Eastwood "The Sandman" 2-String Bass

Thanks for the replies! A quick search on the net shows that Ernie ball has short scale flatwounds 50 for the G and 70 for the D string. Would these be the best? I´d guess the thicker the strings, the better, to prevent detuning/breaking?

    Eastwood "The Sandman" 2-String Bass

Thanks for the info! So it´s not that you use a 65 instead of a 100 gauge string D string for your top D string? So just a standard E - A tuning with the E turned down to a D ?

    Eastwood "The Sandman" 2-String Bass

So, my Eastwood bass is on its way. I should get it this summer. What is not clear to me is what tuning and what gauges Mark used. So could someone tell me what the gauge and tuning of the top string should be, and what the gauge and the tuning of the bottom string? Thanks for the info!

    Sid Vicious Precision Bass

The production year of his bass is pre mid 1976. Because they changed the design of the headstock around that time.

This is the reply I got from TAD: right now, we "only" offer matching in pars. But I can have our people test the tubes again and we might be able to suppy three pairs which are close like a sextet? Please advise. I replied that that should be ok ....

Funny you say this. My tech said exactly the same :) So yeah, I sent TAD an email asking for a matching sextet. I even don't know what that means honestly. Is one tube different than the other? And how can they make them match?

Thanks for your reply. I think my tech confirmed what you just said. He said that there were problems with the very early bluelines and that for a few months before changing to the 6550 tubes they modded the bluelines (he explained me - but I'm not that technical - something something 240 V to...

I also posted this in another thread. So not wanting to clog up the forum, just hoping for a responese :) I have an old Ampeg SVT Blueline with the 6146 tubes. My amp was serviced some 6 months ago and the 6 tubes were replaced by chinese Shuguang 6146 tubes. So now, three of the six 6146 are...

Why did Ampeg changed from 6146's to 6550's in the SVT?

Hi, didn't want to start a new thread so I'll try posting it in here. I have an old Ampeg SVT Blueline with the 6146 tubes. My amp was serviced some 6 months ago and the 6 tubes were replaced by chinese Shuguang 6146 tubes. So now, three of the six 6146 are blown. So I need to replace them...
