i've been playing bass for 6 years now and 2 years of lessons but i can't seem to write my own material (preferably metal, but anything will do) i dont know why? ive got good techneque (love vibratos and hamer-ons) and can play fast and smooth but i still can't make up any good metal stuff???

who cares how or what you played, as long as you liked it and felt it was good enough its your music play it how you want. its about the music not how you play on the night eg. the recording of iron man that nice bend at the start with the doubbled over guitars is a mistake tommi forgot to tune...

i agree allthough im not in a band and only played like 3 gigs. people from famous bands use cheap basses for this reason for example tom arayer from slayer uses a resonable priced esp-ltd because it would be easly replaced if damaged

i would preffer to make my basses from scrach. shore it takes time but that way you can manipulate the sound in anyway you won't and if you dont like the shape or action its your own fult in conclution i'd have a custom made

fom my understanding diffrent woods resinate diffrently as well as same woods resinating diffrently because of grain spacing, this may effect the tone but would be extreamly hard to tell by ear unless that is you are a bat .

what type of humbuckers 2coil, 3coil or 4coil

thanks for the brand names but what style would recomended for giving better output and overall tone? soapbar,2coil,4coil ect. i want to know because im planing on making myself a custom bass thanks again
