Current Setup

I currently play a 200 year-old cello shaped bass with a curved back. Before that I owned a factory built Romanian bass.

Favorite Genres

Piano, bass & drum trios - Bill Evans, Jarret trio etc. I listen to a lot of contemporary classical music too.

Gigs and Ensembles

While in Scotland I played with many musicians including the Chick Lyall trio with whom I recorded an album with the tenor saxophonist Joakim Milder. Living In Boston I played with a lot of great jazz players such as Scott Goulding on drums and Andy Voelker on sax.

Influences and Teachers

I studied briefly with Gary Peacock back in 2000, courtesy of a Scottish Art Council Travel grant. Dave Holland, Paul Chambers, Mingus and Ray Brown are major influences.

Hobbies and Interests

My original training was a a visual artist. I took up bass after leaving Art School in Edinburgh and played my first jazz gig in 1990
