Why is Radiohead not as appealing to older people as Pink Floyd?

If you ask the music critics, Radiohead's OK Computer is absolutely in the same league as The Dark Side of the Moon in terms of artistic and musical qualities. But the real question is why OK Computer isn't as appealing to music listeners as DSOTM. In general people are much less polarized on...

Is Deep Purple in the same league with Led Zeppelin?

I've never understood why Ian Paice gets much less recognition than Bonham as one of the GOATs of classic rock drumming when he's just as great as Bonham, even technically superior. Can you explain this?

Do you rate The Doors highly?

The Doors is one of the most iconic American rock groups. But they are a band without a bassist and that's the unique thing about them. Personally would you rate them highly or not? How much are they appealing to you musically?

Why is Radiohead not as appealing to older people as Pink Floyd?

OK Computer was like "Dark Side of the Moon of the 90's".

Why is Radiohead not as appealing to older people as Pink Floyd?

Judging Radiohead on their biggest hit "Creep" is like judging Deep Purple on "Smoke on the water" or Van Halen on "Jump".

Why is Radiohead not as appealing to older people as Pink Floyd?

Generally I noticed that so many older people (mainly classic rock fans) who grew up with Pink Floyd don't get or cannot appreciate Radiohead as they appreciate Pink Floyd. Some of them even have negative comments on Radiohead. Why, what's their problem with Radiohead? In some way Radiohead can...

Why did prog rock never have mass popularity?

The band that put out the song as "Invisible touch" is vastly different than the band that put out "Dancing with moonlit knight". "Invisible touch" is a commercial pop chart-topper. I can never imagine DWMN being a top 10 hit on the charts. that song was not even released as a single for a reason.

Why did prog rock never have mass popularity?

At least 90% of their sales are from the post-70s when they were pop and not prog.

Why did prog rock never have mass popularity?

King Crimson and 70's Genesis were barely successful.

Why did prog rock never have mass popularity?

There is nothing commercial about prog rock music.

Why is Pink Floyd more popular and appealing than Rush?

So you would say that Gilmour has a better sense of melody than Lifeson?

Why is Alex Lifeson so under-recognized, overlooked, underrated and overshadowed as a musician?

I think Alex has an amazing sense of melody. I find it better than Eddie Van Halen's sense of melody, because Eddie's approach to melody is quite mechanical while Alex's is quite sophisticated and not mechanical at all.

Debut albums: Van Halen vs. Appetite for Destruction?

Wow, 183:79 votes for VH. In this poll VH gets too much love (and respect) unlike GnR.

Debut albums: Van Halen vs. Appetite for Destruction?

I have to agree. DLR is a goofy clown and he kinda ruins my enjoyment of Van Halen. When it comes to songs, it's just party-type rock music with great guitar work. I think Eddie's guitar work is the main reason why VH is held in high regard as the band and the main reason why their debut is held...
