Well I guess I'll sand down the saddles and hope for the best :) Thanks for the help!

    Help! I keep breaking strings.

All of my strings broke immediately above the bridge but, it was the core wire that broke I would imagine that if it was the saddles the wrappings would snap which they didn't. However I will sand all of my saddles VERY smooth before I put new strings on them. Looking at the saddles it almost...

    Help! I keep breaking strings.

As for rusty strings, I don't think they were; looking at them now they seen to be plane gray steel at the point where they snaped. :/ I've ordered a set of Daddario heavy gauge halfwounds on amazon and they'll be ariving shortly. And for my playing technique I probably am to aggressive with...

    Help! I keep breaking strings.

So I own one bass, (I'm building one from the ground up right now but that's another story) and I play a lot, at least two to three hours a day and have been, fairly consistently for the last six months or so, and I have broken three strings in that time: two Gs and one D. The first one was a G...

What Truss Rod to use with one piece (maple & walnut skunk stripe) neck?

Ya, You're probably right. I think I'll go with those rods that Gilmour posted about before from bitterroot guitars. :)

What Truss Rod to use with one piece (maple & walnut skunk stripe) neck?

You're right!, there is no advantage to using a slotted nut except 'vintage appeal' but that's exactly why I want a slotted nut. Vintage fenders had heel adjust slotted truss rods and my build is in that theme. I just need to find a 24" long, slotted nut, duel action truss rod. :/ Now where to...

What Truss Rod to use with one piece (maple & walnut skunk stripe) neck?

I really want a body adjustment and I'll seat the rod close enough to the fretboard that I'll be able to adjust it without taking the neck off (I'm going to file out access in the body and pickguard), so that's not an issue. As for nut type a slotted nut would suit me best, but I could use a...

What Truss Rod to use with one piece (maple & walnut skunk stripe) neck?

Hmm, I'm adjusting from the heel and putting a walnut plug in the headstock. Will those rods not work then?

What Truss Rod to use with one piece (maple & walnut skunk stripe) neck?

Those rods look very good and I was thinking of trying a different style of DA rod anyway, but I really don't want to have to rout a curved channel as I'm a novice wood worker and I don't think I could execute something that complex. Do those rods need a curved channel?

What Truss Rod to use with one piece (maple & walnut skunk stripe) neck?

Okay, well thank you very much for the information! I will use the hot rod then. So when gluing the skunk stripe should you put the glue on the sides of the skunk stripe or on the sides of the channel?

What Truss Rod to use with one piece (maple & walnut skunk stripe) neck?

Well the skunk stripe is mainly for looks (and a vanity piece, as I am using many vintage fender design elements on this build) however it is needed to accommodate the lack of glued on fretboard. I could glue a maple fretboard on to the maple neck blank but I would prefer to have a one piece and...

What Truss Rod to use with one piece (maple & walnut skunk stripe) neck?

So I'm a new builder, and I've been stalking around these forums for quite awhile, and I was planing to use a Hot Rod duel action truss rod in the build I am working on right now, but this morning while reading a tread about truss rods in one piece necks some people were saying that the pressure...
