Playing bass for one year - anything wrong having already 8 instruments?

.. and I think I will get to do your thing. I am in an exploring stage right now; I might go around get some other basses and see how I feel about them and probably sell those I am not happy about. So far I am super excited for my Alembic, Fodera and '75 P (which is my opinion is the best of...

Sound is weak and can only get a decent sound if I run it through an amp. I am not sure if that's an issue with all acoustic basses out there but can only play a decent acoustic session with an amp on this one.

It's the Ibanez AEB10E. Not very happy with it though.

Agreed. I meet with my band in several professionally set up studios. Home however, for rehearsal, wont matter too much I think since I live in an apt. building where cranking up the amp is just a dream.

A low end Fodera though:) I live in NYC and their shop is 20 min from my place. Is an amazing bass but in spite of that my '75 precision sounds better. Many of my friends with tens of years more experience have said that as well. interesting fact to never discount an old craft.

I thank everybody for their feedback because any feedback (good or bad) is useful. How would you know what's a good feedback if you don't have the bad one for benchmark?

There is a great amount of feedback here and I appreciate it all. Reading though this made me have a bit of a revelation. Playing an instrument is an artistic endeavor, and real art comes from freedom of expression just as we see it fit, individually. Constrain, as a good amount of people try...

I think all goes together, right? player, collector and pretty things. Same reason basses come in different colors, music videos were invented, and most instrument are not unicolor ugly and just functional....

Thanks for advice. I take it with utmost seriousness. It will be long before I can say I truly handle the instrument in detail. I disagree however with "get a Squier" etc thing. We all deserve what's best out there whether we are beginners or professionals. A good instrument can only make you...

Ah. I could not say this better. I wish it could be different for the sake of my pocket and marriage but it feels just as you said.

Yeah, if all would be measured on how skilled we are ( criteria we're all against can be discusses ) then many of us probably would own Squiers MIM (which by no means is a bad instrument but has it's limitations:).

I know I know... My skills probably don't deserve these beautiful instruments. I do play every day pretty much though, and to this end I can play a large amount of stuff out there. I definitely lack in being fast enough. Something I need to improve. On the other hand, I find a huge motivational...

Not with these things, man. Don't think so. Is such an amazing feeling to play them one after the other and feel the different sound. As you probably noticed, they are all very different than the other.
