    By cutting the traces, you keep the original isolated pickup sound. If that’s not necessary, then you don’t need to worry about it.

    Could the pickups be wired out of phase? I would try switching the wire connections of one of them.

    That’s the thing: it’s much easier to solder that cable and listen for yourself. I hope this doesn’t come across as arrogance. You may not notice the loading on the pickups (which dulls the tone by messing with the resonant peak of the pickup) or you may find that your playing reacts better to...

    A grounded blend will insert a new resistor in parallel to ground. This will allow for a full cut of one of the pickups. However, it will also load the pickup that’s on. By removing the ground connection, you are adding a reostate, which never fully takes the other pickup out of the circuit...

    Just did this mod to a brand new 100k MN pot, and it is super smooth. I opened both sides of the pot, in order to cut the traces as carefully as I could, and measured to see if I got an open circuit. It was one of the easiest mods ever. Thank you for all the info, Walterw!!
